{"id":28626,"date":"2022-09-07T10:26:39","date_gmt":"2022-09-07T02:26:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/umedic.com.my\/Stagging2025\/?p=28626"},"modified":"2023-04-05T10:05:31","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T02:05:31","slug":"bursa-malaysia-opens-lower-tracking-wall-street-performance","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/umedic.com.my\/Stagging2025\/bursa-malaysia-opens-lower-tracking-wall-street-performance\/","title":{"rendered":"Bursa Malaysia opens lower, tracking Wall Street performance"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"col-12 mt-3 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p><strong>KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7\u00a0(Bernama)<\/strong> &#8212; Bursa Malaysia opened\u00a0lower today,\u00a0tracking Wall Street\u2019s weaker performance\u00a0as concerns over higher interest rate hikes by the United States Federal Reserves continue to weigh on sentiments, a dealer said.<\/p>\n<p>At 9.12\u00a0am, the benchmark\u00a0FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI (FBM KLCI) shed 3.26\u00a0points to 1,485.01\u00a0from Tuesday\u2019s close of\u00a01,488.27.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-12 mt-3 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>The benchmark index opened 2.25 points weaker at 1,485.92.<\/p>\n<p>On the broader market, losers surpassed gainers 235 to 102, while 202\u00a0counters were unchanged, 1,735\u00a0untraded, and eight\u00a0others suspended.<\/p>\n<p>Turnover stood at 206.53\u00a0million units worth RM83.36\u00a0million.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-12 mt-3 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>Rakuten Trade Sdn Bhd vice-president of Equity Research, Thong Pak Leng said he expects to see some buying interest in financial stocks today, especially banking counters\u00a0that\u00a0were the victims of the last-minute selling spree yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMeanwhile, crude palm oil price skidded to below RM3,800 per tonne due to aggressive exports from Indonesia to reduce their own stockpile,&#8221; he told Bernama.<\/p>\n<p>He said the\u00a0DJI Average lost 173 points and the Nasdaq declined by 86 points, while\u00a0the US 10-year yield surged to 3.35 per cent.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-12 mt-3 text-dark text-justify\">\n<p>On the local front, he reckoned that the index would be stuck within a tight range of between 1,485 and 1,500 today as trading\u00a0is expected to remain lacklustre.<\/p>\n<p>Among the heavyweights, Maybank and IHH Healthcare added two sen to RM8.92 and RM6.17, respectively, while Public Bank, Petronas Chemicals and CIMB shed one sen to RM4.65, RM8.73 and RM5.45, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Of the actives, Metronic Global gained one sen to 8.5 sen and\u00a0MQ Technology was flat at 3.5 sen, while Cypark Resources slid 2.5 sen to 33 sen, Umedic Group reduced half-a-sen to 71.5 sen and Agmo Holdings shrank one sen to 92 sen.<\/p>\n<p>On the index board, the\u00a0FBM Emas Index lessened\u00a026.37\u00a0points to\u00a010,542.53,\u00a0the FBMT 100 Index inched down\u00a026.34\u00a0points to 10,291.20,\u00a0the FBM 70 gave up\u00a047.11\u00a0points to 12,636.12,\u00a0the FBM Emas Shariah Index dropped 40.22 points to 10,593.83 and\u00a0the FBM ACE shed 24.61 points to 4,775.78.<\/p>\n<p>Sector-wise, the Plantation Index was 14.63\u00a0points better\u00a0at 7,014.68, while\u00a0the Industrial Products and Services Index declined 2.10 points\u00a0to 181.53,\u00a0the Financial Services Index fell\u00a04.81\u00a0points to 16,730.08\u00a0and\u00a0the Energy Index edged down\u00a09.23\u00a0points to 712.21.<\/p>\n<p>&#8212; BERNAMA<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 7\u00a0(Bernama) &#8212; Bursa Malaysia opened\u00a0lower today,\u00a0tracking Wall Street\u2019s weaker performance\u00a0as concerns over higher interest rate hikes by the United States Federal Reserves continue to weigh on sentiments, a dealer said.
